Inspiration straight to your inbox, every week

1. Be prepared and get involved

The RBC Race For The Kids will see people of all ages and abilities take part - from babies in pushchairs, grandparents and wheelchair racers, everyone is welcome to walk, run, scoot or wheel their way around the course, so you can expect a pretty big crowd and an electric atmosphere. The race starts at 10am but doors are open from 8:30, so if you’ve got youngsters, we would recommend getting there a little early to avoid the big crowds and prepare for the Race. Plus, the Race goes ahead come rain or shine, so be sure to wear appropriate clothing and layers underneath your race t-shirts to keep the potential October chill out!

2. Fundraising and fancy dress

The two F’s - fundraising and fancy dress! Neither of which are compulsory but both make the day that extra bit special. There aren’t any minimum fundraising targets but your money, even the smallest donation will help make a vital difference to children from across the UK who are suffering from the rarest, most complex and often life-threatening conditions. And with regards to fancy dress, anything goes! So long as safe to run in and comfortable - go ahead.

3. It’s not all about the taking part

A crucial aspect of every race is, undoubtedly, the racing but everyone knows that the second most fundamental aspect of an epic race is the crowd. So if you don’t fancy running, be sure to show your support from the sidelines and cheer on all the racers, giving them that all-important boost of motivation and determination to carry on! Regardless of whether you’ve got friends and family racing or not, come on down to the glorious Hyde Park and whoop, cheer and shout to the best of your ability. Not only will it encourage the racers but it’ll leave you beaming with happiness!

4. There’s more to the RBC Race For the Kids than the Race itself

The RBC Race For The Kids is notorious for its family-friendly festivities throughout the day. Besides the Race itself, there’s plenty of entertainment and fun goings-on for everyone to get involved in. From a rock climbing wall and face-painting to live entertainment from the folks at Butlins and an eclectic mix of fabulous family activities - there’s never a dull moment at the RBC Race For The Kids. There’s also mention of a few famous faces making an appearance on the day so keep your eyes on the lookout!

5. Don’t forget to pick up your gold!

We know it’s not about winning but who doesn’t love a medal? Be sure to grab yours at the end, along with a goody bag full of surprises for children! Wear it proudly around your neck and beam with pride knowing that you helped race for the kids and contributed to the incredible GOSH!
