What to expect

It may be a Christmas classic, but there's no reason why John Hughes' superb caper Home Alone can't be enjoyed any time of the year! If you're missing your family cinema trips, make your way to the awesome 1950s-inspired drive-thru cinema at the Troubadour Meridian Water in Enfield for an extra-special screening of Home Alone (rated PG) this summer. There's no doubt this new drive-in cinema will be an unforgettable family-friendly experience!

Eight-year-old Kevin is left at home alone when his parents fly to Paris for their Christmas holiday, not realising he isn’t on the plane with them. Kevin must protect his house from a pair of burglars who threaten to break in and rob the place. Starring Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister and Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as the pair of con men, Home Alone is what a good family film should be all about - entertaining adults and kids with a healthy dose of slapstick comedy!

Experience the magic of the classic American drive-in movie theatre with the whole family. The 1950s-inspired Drive In will be screening a range of films, from classic movies you know and love to massive blockbusters, including Grease, La La Land and Back to the Future. The Drive In is fully contact-free and sound will be broadcast straight to your car's speakers. Expect a top-of-the-range LED screen,  1950s-costumed attendants, American diner-style snacks including popcorn and burgers, and great entertainment.

It may be your first time watching a Christmas film in July, but is there a better way to do it than at a new drive-in cinema?

Kidadl in the Know

  • Is there parking?

  • Are there baby-changing facilities?

Unfortunately, there are no baby changing facilities at The Drive In. This is in order to maintain strict hygiene standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Where to eat

If you are peckish, there's a snack bar with food, drinks and other refreshments available. Orders can be made on your mobile and will be delivered straight to your vehicle by a 1950s drive-in attendant in a safe and contact-free manner. Refreshments include popcorn, burgers, and more. You will receive instructions on how to place a food order using your mobile app when you arrive.

  • Kidadl top tips

You're encouraged to wear a face mask and must keep a minimum 2-metre distance when using the toilet facilities.
