What to expect

Fancy watching your favourite film at a drive-in cinema? Have you been wondering if there's a drive-in cinema near you? Make your way to the 1950s-inspired Drive In at the Troubadour Meridian Water this July for a screening of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (rated 15). Older kids and adults alike will love this story of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus bound for the Outback to put on the show of a lifetime.

Make your cinema experience extra special at this drive-in screening of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Follow the epic journey of two drag performers and a transgender woman who travel across the desert to perform their very own unique style of cabaret in a heartwarming story of self-discovery, sassiness and acceptance.

Drive-in cinemas are the ideal way to enjoy a movie with your family whilst maintaining social distancing.  There will be live actors, 1950s-costumed attendants, American diner-style snacks including popcorn and burgers and great entertainment - all from the safety and comfort of your own car. The Drive In will be screening a variety of fantastic films all summer, including Dirty Dancing and La La Land.

This may well be you and your children's first drive-in cinema experience - so don't delay and book your tickets today to this summer’s must-visit London attraction.

Kidadl in the Know

  • Is there parking?

Yes – visitors will be seated in their own cars for the duration of the performance. All cars will be parked and spaced at least 2 metres apart. Tickets to Drive In screenings and performances are scanned through your closed car window, so there will be no contact at all!

  • Are there baby-changing facilities?

Unfortunately, there are no baby changing facilities at The Drive In. This is in order to maintain strict hygiene standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Where to eat

If you're feeling peckish, there's a snack bar with food, drinks and other refreshments available. Orders can be made on your mobile and will be delivered straight to your car by a 1950s drive-in attendant in a safe and contact-free manner. Refreshments include popcorn, burgers, and more. You will receive instructions on how to place a food order using your mobile app when you arrive.

  • Kidadl top tips

You're encouraged to wear a face mask and must keep a minimum 2-metre distance when using the toilet facilities. If you're wondering how you'll be able to hear the movie, sound will be broadcast straight to your car speakers via FM radio. If you don't have a car radio, you can use a portable radio device or a radio app available on your smartphone. More info will be provided when you arrive.

  • Terms and conditions

Tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable. Tickets are scanned through your window to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Pricing is per car, not per person.
